Larry Dean Mitchell, age 67 of the Tunnel Hill community passed away Saturday, August 29, 2020 at the Fleming County Hospital after an extended illness. He was born October 18, 1952 in Nicholas County, Kentucky to the late Elmer (Buddy) and Mary Louise Fryman Mitchell.
Larry was a retired logger and mechanic and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends especially his grandchildren. He was a University of Kentucky basketball fan and enjoyed cars and motorcycles. He was a member of the Pleasant Ridge Christian Church in Cowan.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Sharon Berryman, The mother of his children, Barbara Gray Applegate, one brother, Ronnie Mitchell, Five sisters, Anna Bailey, Barbara Watkins, Connie Cox, Wanda Cox and Dixie Wilcoxson. One sister-in-law, Betty Mitchell. Also his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Kenneth and Thelma Gray.
Survivors include two daughters, Deana (Brian) Thornsburg of Moorefield and Becky (Timmy Buckler) Jolly of Sherburne. Three brothers, Jackie Mitchell, Donnie (Crystal) Mitchell and Danny Mitchell all of Ewing. One sister, Amy Mitchell Emmons of Ewing. Four grandchildren: Colton (Casey) Thornsburg of Salt Lick, Austin (Samantha) Thornsburg of Paris, Kentucky, Brooklyn Jolly and Morgan Ishmael of Sherburne. Two great-grandchildren: Cadence Thornsburg and Camilla Coker. Two step-grandchildren; Kelsey (Adam) Jolley and James Buckler. Step-great-grandchildren; Hunter Jolley, Aiden Jolley, Kaylee Jolley, Axton and Zander. Also his brothers-in-law; Ricky (Peggy) Gray of Elizaville, Michael (Lisa) Gray of Morehead and Gregory (Debbie) Gray of Ewing. Also, several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 1, 2020 in the chapel of the Price Brothers Funeral Home in Elizaville with Brother Dean Brewer officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Valley Community Cemetery. Visitation at the Price Brothers Funeral Home in Elizaville is after 6:00 P.M. Monday.
Serving as pall bearers will be Colton Thornsburg, Austin Thornsburg, Tyler Mitchell, Steven Mitchell, Jason Mitchell, Dylan Watkins and Cord Watkins. Honorary pall bearers will be Ricky Gray, Michael Gray, Gregory Gray and all his nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to everyone at Fleming County Hospital for the care that Larry received while he was a patient there.
