Helen Donovan Thomas

Helen Donovan Thomas, 95 of Flemingsburg, passed away Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at the Maysville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Maysville, Kentucky. 

She was born on June 12, 1929 in Fairview, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Lucy Fulton Donovan and Forrest Louden Donovan.

 Ms. Thomas was a retired teacher and member of the Fleming County Retired Teacher’s Association, a faithful member of the Flemingsburg Christian Church, where she had served on various committees and a member of the Disciples Women’s Missionary.

 She was also a past member and past president of the Fleming County Hospital Auxiliary, a member of the Auxiliary Board and past member of the A. A. U. W. and Kappa Delta and Sigma Kappa Sororities.

 Ms. Thomas was an avid member of the Evening and Lunch Bunch Homemakers group; she also served two years as Treasurer for the Fleming County Homemakers.

 Ms. Thomas was well known throughout the area for singing at many church services, revivals, weddings and funerals. She was the recipient of the Teacher of the Year in 1972 in Fayette County. She enjoyed people and had pleasure in helping others.

 In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Barry Nelson Donovan.

 Survivors include one sister, Martha Donovan Boyd of Mayslick, a step-daughter, Patricia Thomas Tolliver (Galen), two step-granddaughters, Mary Kate Tolliver and Lauren Faith Tolliver, nephew, Charles Boyd (Paula), niece, Suzanne Matheny (Andrew), nieces and nephews, John Austin Matheny (Rylie), Taylor Belle Matheny, Logan Asbury Boyd and Blake Boyd (Grace), Great grandchildren, Isabella and Sophia; and several cousins.

 Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 5, 2024 in the chapel of the Price Brothers Funeral Home in Elizaville with Randy Fritz officiating. 

Burial will follow in the Elizaville Cemetery.

 Visitation is from 11:00 A.M. till the hour of service at the funeral home.

 Pallbearers will be John Austin Matheny, Logan Asbury Boyd, Blake Boyd, Charlie Boyd, James Smoot, Travis Walton and Andrew Matheny.

 Honorary pallbearers will be John Matheny, James Emmons, Steve Donovan, Steve Brown, Tony Case, Galen Tolliver, Bill Leet and Clyde Atherton.
