Berry Burke

Mrs. Berry Flora Burke, 82 of Tea Run Road, passed away suddenly Monday evening, July 22, 2019 at her home. She was born May 26, 1937 at Battle Run in Fleming County to the late Paul J. and Maude Moran Flora.

She retired as postmaster at the Elizaville Post Office and was a lifelong member of the Battle Run Christian Church.  She was a graduate of Fleming County High School where she was a cheerleader and was an avid University of Kentucky Wildcat fan. She loved her church, watching her hummingbirds and helping others whenever she could.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a grandson, Bobbie Ray Kissick, one sister, Nancy Carrie Flora and four brothers, Bobbie Flora, Edward "Buck" Flora, Ovel G. Flora and Sammy Flora.

Survivors include her daughter, Paula Jean Kissick and her husband Jerry of Tea Run, Two sons, Hensley Ray Burke, Jr. of Battle Run and Michael Wayne Burke (Sherri Crawford) of Flemingsburg. Four brothers, Dickie Flora of Flemingsburg, Eric Flora and his wife Shirley of Hilltop, Aaron "Tater" Flora of Flemingsburg, and Ollie Ray Flora and his wife Nancy of Flemingsburg. One sister, Cora Helphenstine of Maysville. Three grandchildren, Jerry Wayne Kissick and his wife Christie of Lexington, Bill Kissick and his wife Bethany of  Mt. Sterling and Cassie Burke of Ewing. Five great-grandchildren, Burkely Dryden, Landry Dryden, Benjamin Kissick, Deklen Kissick and Morgan Kissick. Also, several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Friday at the Battle Run Christian Church with Brother Larry Mulholland and Brother Chris Hamm officiating.

Burial will follow in the Elizaville Cemetery.

Visitation at the Price Brothers Funeral Home in Elizaville is after 6:00 P.M. Thursday.

Serving as pall bearers will be Mike High, Jerel Purcell, Billy Sapp, Joe Callahan, Bobby Money, David McGlone and Terry Kinder. Honorary pall bearers will be Michael McDowell,  Mark Fryman, Tom Caskey, Tim Ramey and Howard Smith.
