James Edward "Jim" Huston, 84 of Hilltop, passed away Saturday, February 20, 2021 in the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky. He was born in Dayton, Tennessee on April 3, 1936 to the late James A. and Ruth Denton Huston.
Jim was a farmer and a veteran having served in the United States Coast Guard. He was a member of the Fleming County Muzzleloaders and had competed several times in the Bluegrass Games. He had served 22 years as a commissioner on the Western-Fleming Water Association and was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He attended the Battle Run Christian Church and enjoyed spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Shirley Wilson Huston who passed away November 21, 2018.
Survivors include two daughters: Kathy (Jeff) Dryden of Ewing, Kentucky and Karen (Dean Shearer) Huston of Richmond, Kentucky. Three grandchildren: Jarrod (Amanda) Dryden, Derrick (Cassie) Dryden and Kizann Huston. Three great grandchildren, Burkley Dryden, Landry Dryden and Zachary Smith.
Public visitation will be Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at the Price Brothers Funeral Home in Elizaville from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
A private family funeral will be conducted with Rev. Jerry Boling officiating.
Burial with military rites by the W. N. Fant American Legion Post No. 5 and the Franklin Sousley VFW Post No. 1834 will follow in the Elizaville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Lexington at www.volunteer.va.gov
